Beaches in Bangka Belitung do not only offer natural beauty but also save tens of marine biota. With that potentials, Bangka Belitung provincial government targets foreign tourists from neighbor states that still has clumps of Malays, such as Malaysia and Singapore, because of the potential for tourism in this province is nicknamed “Serumpun Sebalai” (literally, one clump and one house”).
Bangka Island, Bangka Belitung Islands Province, was once known as Tin Island because of tin mines. Bangka name itself has a long history. This name comes from the word “wangka” which means tin in Malay. First exploited in 1709, the tin took the lead role in all aspects and become the foundation for the district known as this “Bumi Sepintu Sedulang”. In fact, these commodities make Indonesia as one of the largest tin-producing countries in the world. Most of the population chose wrestling with mining activities by working in the unconventional mines. Of course a massive exploitation since hundreds of years ago makes supplies of tin in Bangka increasingly depleted.
Now, what remain in West Bangka is the remnants of tin that are still being hunted by “loyal” miners and many large holes as wide as 3 to 50 acres that surround a city of 242,010 inhabitants and an area of 11,534,142 square km. Local people call it “kolong”. This extraordinary environmental damage can be seen clearly from the plane which landed at the Pangkalpinang Depati Amir airport, or along the road when traveling overland. Indonesian elementary students
All elements of society who care about the future of national education are now happy, in connection with the decision of the Supreme Court (MA) in Case No. 2596 K/Pdt/2008 dated 14 September 2009 that decides to refuse the government’s appeal associated with the National Examination (UN).
Since the alication of National Final Examination (UAN) in 2002 for junior and senior high school in 2005 which later changed its name to the UN, many problems arise that often lead to controversy. These problems occur because UN was considered generalizing the exam throughout the archipelago both for high school students in big cities and remote areas of school which facilities were, of course, far different from a big city school. In addition, the UN is always characterized by deceitfulness.
Therefore, we give a thumbs-up to the Justice of the Supreme Court that had decided the case related to the UN which uphold the right to quality education for all Indonesian students which are the basic human rights (human rights). Also worthy of thumbs up is the Justice of the Central Jakarta District Court and the Jakarta High Court that decided the case of UN correctly and fair. Hopefully a decision that can satisfy people’s sense of justice regarding the UN can be a milestone for all judges, both at the first level or the level of appeal, and appeals to always create a moral decision, quality, and far from any mafia law. continue reading…
SBY legitimation is fallen dramatically because of the Century Bank scandal.
Political pressure on SBY is getting higher following Century questionnaire rights in the House and the termination of Bibit-Chandra case. Previous public opinion believes that the Attorney and the Police will continue to process the allegations of authority abuse by Bibit Samad Riyanto and Chandra Hamzah as the Chairman of the Commission despite the recommendations of Eight team requested the case to be stopped because of the lack of evidence.
From previous experiences, the public saw the SBY is likely to say anything, let Tim Eight and the Police-Attorney involved in intense tension, although the intensity of public pressure is getting higher to resolve Bibit-Chandra soon. This public opinion helped put pressure on SBY. If this is what really happens, the Team Eight is no more than SBY’s trick to accommodate middle-class pressure for the fair processing of Bibit-chandra case, which should be neutral and in accordance with the sense of justice.
Team Eight filled by people from different backgrounds such as law enforcement and academics have been able to boost the image of SBY. At least in the eyes of the middle class who thirst for justice and governance that is clean, the formation of the Team Eight has provided hope that Bibit-Chandra case will be treated with care. That’s right, Team Eight will give birth to only a non-binding recommendation of the President.
